To feel better.
Therapy can treat mental illness, help people recover &/or manage its symptoms.
But it can also help on less clinical levels.
It can help you get through difficult times in your life, or find direction when you are feeling lost or unmotivated.
It can help you make big decisions in your life, or manage when you may have felt like you made the wrong ones.
It can help you navigate complicated relationships, or just get to know yourself better.
But while everyone can benefit from some form of therapy, it is up to you to decide to have it.
Do not let anyone else tell you that you need therapy because you are 'the problem'.
We can help you manage the things or people in your life that are making you feel this way, but know that nobody needs 'fixing'.
We do not fix people. We aim to make them feel less broken.

Yes. You can see a psychologist without a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and GP referral.
You could instead use private health insurance, a third party payment provider or pay for the session out of pocket.
Please refer to our ‘How to Book an Appointment’ page.
-
Appointment fees vary depending on the details of your appointment. You can view our appointments fees here, but the average out of pocket cost with a mental health care plan is $93.15

Clinical Psychologists are trained professionals who specialise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating various mental health and psychological disorders. They have typically completed doctoral or masters-level training in psychology, which includes both academic coursework and supervised clinical experience.
General Psychologists are Psychologists who work in a clinical setting but do not have the same extended clinical education. They have completed their education in psychology, which typically involves a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s degree in psychology, or equivalent internship.
Provisional Psychologists are therapists who have completed their academic training in psychology but are still gaining supervised practical experience before becoming fully licensed psychologists. These individuals are often completing the required hours of supervised practice as part of the licensing process.
Counsellors are professionals who provide talk therapy and support to individuals, couples, families, and groups. They are trained to address emotional, behavioural, and mental health concerns through various therapeutic approaches.
Medicare Rebates are different across these qualifications.
You are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $141.85 (Clinical Psychologist) or $96.65 (General Psychologist) for up to 10 sessions per calendar year with a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP.
Medicare does not offer a rebate for appointments with Provisional Psychologists or Counsellors.

People engage in therapy for various amounts of time depending on what has brought them to therapy in the first place.
Some people engage in therapy on/off for years to work on different things that come up in new stages of their lives, and some people attend therapy for 2-3 sessions in the space of a month to work on something specific and time limited.
A typical experience would be to, at first, engage in therapy every 2 weeks for about 10-12 weeks, then to extend sessions to once every 3 weeks/month for a further couple of months. From there, it may be agreed that being discharged is suitable for you, or that you would like to book an appointment for a few months in the future to ‘check in’.
If you are a previous client with Craft Psychology, you will have priority in waitlists and future bookings, but we encourage you to book an appointment in advance and reschedule/cancel if not needed closer to the time. This also applies if you would like to secure future appointments beyond your upcoming.
-
Yes. Sessions are confidential - unless you or another person is at serious risk of harm, or if a court orders the disclosure of information.
Also, in the event that you would like Craft Psychology to discuss your case with a third party, and the practitioner deems this to be appropriate, you can provide written permission for information to be discussed with that party.

For a telehealth appointment you need a device with a camera and microphone such as a laptop or phone, you also need a stable internet connection, and you need to be somewhere private so as to ensure the session is confidential and has no interruptions.
In the week leading up to your appointment, your therapist will email the zoom link for your session. If you do not receive the link by 10am on the day of your appointment, please check your junk mail folder and/or contact us.
If there are technical issues at the time of your appointment, a phone consultation can be used.

We understand that life can be complicated and hectic at times.
We ask that you provide as much time as possible when cancelling/rescheduling your appointment. This helps us to help people who are on a waiting list. There is a chance that you giving us an extra bit of time notice may really help someone else hoping to get a session at your timeslot.
Cancelled or rescheduled appointments within 2-1 business days’ notice incur a $50 fee. Those cancelled or rescheduled within 1 business day’s notice will incur a $100 fee. Those not attended with any notice will incur a fee 50% of the session cost*.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please get in touch here.
If you are not able to pay for a session that you have had within the 2-3 business days, then please let us know. If no contact has been made, any future appointments in your name will be removed from our calendar until payment has been made.
We will attempt to contact you via email and phone to provide any assistance possible, but if no arrangement has been made within 15 business days of your previous appointment, your Medicare rebate will be collected, and your GP will be contacted to discharge you from our services.
* A Medicare rebate cannot be processed for late cancellation fees.

Oddly specific question, but yes.
Craft Psychology's core values are:
Individuality
Diversity
Compassion
Understanding
Empowering people to feel like they can look after themselves and their loved ones without needing therapy too often.
"We craft to express ourselves & to show others the depth of how much we care. It turns ordinary objects into an artform of communication for the most important things" (Me).
"The individual is so complex and diverse that it takes something as equally incomprehensible to understand it. This is why people are drawn to each other" (Also me).
"If you do not believe that you can do it, then you have no chance at all"
(Arsène Wenger)."...Compassion...is not [for the] people [who] deserve it. It's [for those who] need it." (Giles, from Buffy)
