Therapy comes in all shapes and sizes. It can range from two sessions to solve a short term problem to ongoing support and check ins to maintain a desired course in life.
While our style of therapy is largely a combination of therapies tailored to your situation, we draw on the following evidence-based approaches to make sure a high standard of quality is always upheld in our sessions:

Involves identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking that contributes to unnecessary distress and poor habits. By changing problematic thoughts and behaviours, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective in treatment.
Certainly one of the most popular therapies that has a lot of research to back it up. It basically focuses on changing the way we think by using logic to challenge negative automatic thoughts.

The aim of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) is learning to accept what is outside of your personal control, and committing to action that improves and enriches your life. Effective components of ACT involve the identification of values and our relationship with our own feelings.
An ‘odd couple’ opposite of CBT that favours more of an emotional centre. If you’ve ever heard of mindfulness, this therapy uses it quite a bit.

Narrative therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling and community work, which centres people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives.
We like to see it as helpful to re-writing the stories of your life. So often we have stories of ‘damage’ instead of stories of ‘survival’.

A type of counselling developed to help people understand and resolve their ambivalent thoughts and feelings about change. All to help them find the motivation they need to change some unhelpful behaviour. This form of therapy has been used extensively with addictions and life/career coaching.
Great for bridging the gap between wanting to do something and doing it.

Strongly recommended for the treatment of PTSD, this approach is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that helps people learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to their trauma. In doing so, a new understanding and conceptualization of the traumatic event is created, and the trauma is reduced in its ongoing negative effects on current life.
A more challenging type of therapy but one that can be very cathartic, and can help you build resiliency against the traumas that have been bullying you for too long.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
It is a short term version of therapy that basically focuses on solving problems that are in front of you now.
Assessment
Craft Psychology provides a range of Assessments for those needing formal documentation, or wanting a better understanding of themselves.
Assessments take approximately 2-6 sessions depending on complexity of what is required.
